Pure Beeswax Candles
Imagine relaxing with the restful, glow of a golden beeswax candle with its gentle scent of honey softly permeating across the room, just as they done since ancient times. We can help you do that!
Our 100% beeswax candles are handcrafted from beeswax sourced directly from our apiary and selected trusted local beekeeper partners. Our candles begin their life with as wax cappings on the honey frames - the natural wax seal bees create to 'cap' their honey. These wax cappings need to be removed in order to extract the honey.
Through careful heating with water and multi-stage filtration, we extract the pristine golden beeswax. We then gently melt the beeswax, cool it to c. 65°C and hand pour it into moulds to create our lovely range of simple, yet stunning golden and deliciously honey scented beeswax candles.
Each piece reflects our commitment to traditional beekeeping craftsmanship and uncompromised quality.
As well as creating a restful, gently scented ambiance in any setting, beeswax candles, known as the 'gold standard' of candles, are also good for you, and the environment! See below:
Air purification & health
Beeswax is unique because it is a natural ioniser.
- Negative Ions: When burned, beeswax releases negative ions. Many airborne pollutants (like dust, pollen and mould) carry a positive charge. It is widely believed the negative ions from a beeswax candle attach to these particles, causing them to become heavy and fall to the ground, effectively cleaning the air.
- Hypoallergenic: Because they help clear the air of allergens, beeswax candles are often the best choice for people with asthma, seasonal allergies, or chemical sensitivities.
- Non-toxic: They do not release toxic byproducts like benzene or toluene (which are found in paraffin soot) when burned.
Superior burn
- Long burn time: Beeswax has a significantly higher melting point than other waxes (around 62-65°C). The density of beeswax allows the candles burn more slowly and last longer than soy or paraffin alternatives.
- Brighter light: Beeswax candles emit a light spectrum that is very similar to natural sunlight. This creates a warmer, more 'golden' ambiance that can reduce eye strain and improve mood.
- Dripless & smokeless: When the wick is properly trimmed, beeswax candles are naturally dripless and produce almost no soot, keeping your walls and ceilings clean.
Sustainability
- Renewable resource: Beeswax is a sustainable byproduct of beekeeping. Supporting the beeswax candle maker indirectly supports honeybee populations and local pollination.
- Biodegradable: Beeswax is 100% biodegradable.
- Natural scent: Beeswax has a delicate aroma of honey - no need for any additional fragrance oils.
Quick user guide:
- Trim wick to 5mm.
- Place on a heat-proof plate.
- Keep away from drafts.
- "Hug" method. To get the most out of your pillar, gently "hug" (press) the warm top edges of the wax inward toward the melt pool after burning.
WARNING
Safety Protocol:
- Surface: Must be used with a non-combustible, heat-resistant holder to catch any wax runoff.
- Supervision: Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Clearance: Maintain at least 10cm between candles and at least 1m from flammable materials.
- Ending use: Extinguish when 20mm of wax remains. Never use liquid to extinguish.
